Rick Rossi
Rick played several saxaphone solos used in various places and the lead flute on the track, "Life" on our album, Life Without Breath. Rick is a very active freelance musician and composer in the Los Angles music industry. Since moving here eight years ago from his home town, Wilmington Delaware, he has recorded many soundtracks and appeared in such current films as "The Nutty Professor", "Star Trek - First Contact", "Primal Fear" and "LA Confidential". Rick has also played with Tito Puento in "The Mambo Kings".

Rick is a multi-talented performer and composer. He composed music for Baywatch and has performed with many Las Vegas performers including Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennet, Linda Ronstadt, Bette Midler, Bob Hope, Jerry Lewis, Jimmy Dorsey, Engelbert Humperdink and many others. On the television front, Rick has worked on such notable shows as "The Nanny", "Friends", Deep Space Nine", "Murphy Brown" and many others. Broadway resounded with Rick's music when he performed with such notables as R.E.M., Neil Young and Glenn Frye. Featured on many CDs, Rick was nominated for a Grammy Award in 1996 for best jazz solo on a CD entitled "The P. Raney Coalition". Rick was also awarded a Platinum album for the CD "The Dirty Boogie" by "The Brian Setzer Orchestra". Far too long to put in this site, his resume reads like a wish-list for every aspiring musician yet he remains unassuming and down to earth even with his popularity growing so rapidly. Waking Born is very pleased to be able to feature Rick on our album.

"My earliest influences growing up were guitar players rather than saxaphone players since I was so into rock music. I used to listen to musicians like Eric Clapton, Johniie Winter and Frank Zappa and try to duplicate their music with my saxaphone. The real jazz legend influences came later when I listened to Sonny Rollins, Cannonball Adderly, and of course John Coltrane and Miles Davis. These are the guys who were the true innovators of their time."
